Most oversized PDFs are oversized because of images: a phone-scanned contract embeds multi-megapixel photos of every page. Smart mode finds those embedded images and re-encodes them at document-appropriate quality while leaving the text layer alone. Upload-based compressors do the same thing on their servers with your contract; QuietPix does it on your device, with the network cable effectively unplugged.

What is the difference between Smart and Strong mode?
Smart recompresses the images embedded in the PDF and keeps everything else: text stays selectable, links and forms keep working. Strong rebuilds each page as an optimized image: the smallest possible file, but text is no longer selectable. Use Smart first; switch to Strong when every kilobyte counts.
Why did my PDF barely shrink?
Text-and-vector PDFs are already compact; there is little left to squeeze without rasterizing. Scans and photo-heavy documents shrink dramatically in Smart mode. If the file comes back untouched, that is the honest answer: it was already optimized.
Is my document uploaded?
No. Reading, recompressing and rebuilding all happen in your browser. Contracts, statements and scans never touch a server.
Are password-protected PDFs supported?
No. Encrypted files are rejected up front rather than risking a corrupt result. Remove the password first, then compress.
