This one uses the recording machinery already in your browser: capture, encode and save, all on your device. Need it as MP3, trimmed, or with the speed changed? How do I record my voice online?
Click Start recording, allow microphone access when the browser asks, speak, and stop. The level meter confirms your mic is live while you talk, and the recording appears below with a player and a download link.
Is my recording uploaded anywhere?
No. The audio is captured and held in this browser tab only, then saved to your device when you download it. A voice recording is about as personal as a file gets — that is exactly why this tool has no server side.
What format does it save in? I need MP3.
WebM with the Opus codec — excellent quality at small sizes, accepted by every modern app. For something older that insists on MP3, run the saved file through our audio converter; that conversion is also local.
The level meter is not moving. What is wrong?
Either microphone permission was denied (check the icon in the address bar) or the wrong input device is selected in your system settings. Our mic test tool shows the same meter and helps isolate which it is.
Is there a length limit?
No fixed one — memory is the only constraint, and audio is small: an hour of Opus voice is roughly 30 MB. Long lectures and interviews are fine.
