How do I get a color code from an image?

What are hex and RGB, and which do I need?
Two spellings of the same color: hex (#5a57c7) is the compact web form used in CSS and design tools; RGB lists the red/green/blue values. Both are shown — use whichever your tool asks for.
Why does the picked color look different in my design?
Usually color management: screenshots and phone photos may carry wide-gamut profiles that browsers flatten to sRGB. The value picked here is the sRGB pixel your browser actually renders — the value that will match on the web.
Can I pick from screenshots, logos, HEIC photos?
