How do I crop a photo without uploading it?

Does cropping reduce quality?
The pixels you keep are copied 1:1, not resampled. JPG and WebP are re-encoded at high quality (92%), PNG stays lossless. The crop keeps your original format: JPG in, JPG out.
Can I crop to a fixed ratio like 1:1 or 16:9?
Yes. Pick Free, 1:1, 4:3, 16:9, 3:4 or 9:16 above the preview and the selection locks to that shape. 1:1 is right for profile pictures, 16:9 for covers and thumbnails, 9:16 for stories.
Does it work with iPhone HEIC photos?
Yes. HEIC photos are decoded on your device and the crop downloads as JPG, since most sites cannot display HEIC.
Is the location data removed from the cropped photo?
Yes. Cropping re-encodes the image, which drops EXIF metadata including GPS coordinates. If you only want metadata removal without cropping, use our EXIF remover.
