Why convert AVIF to WebP?
AVIF offers the best compression of any mainstream format, but plenty of apps, editors and older systems still cannot open it. WebP files are typically 25–35% smaller than JPG at the same quality — ideal for websites.
When you actually need this
A middle ground when AVIF is too new for your target but PNG and JPG are too heavy. WebP keeps transparency, stays reasonably small, and works in every current browser and many desktop tools.
What it costs you
Expect the file to grow — WebP does not compress as hard as AVIF. Our 79 KB test file became 146 KB, roughly double, and this is still lossy-to-lossy so quality cannot improve.
What happens to the file size
On this site's own 1204×800 test image, 79 KB of AVIF became 146 KB of WebP. Slightly larger, which is the cost of the format change rather than a fault. Drop the quality slider a little if size matters more than fidelity.

Why convert to WebP instead of JPG?
Two reasons: WebP keeps transparency and it is smaller. On our test file WebP came out at 146 KB against 191 KB for JPG, and a transparent background would have survived instead of turning white.
Is it really private? Where do my AVIF files go?
Nowhere. The AVIF is decoded and re-encoded as WebP by your own browser, using WebAssembly — the same technology behind Photopea and Google's Squoosh. Load this page, switch off your internet, and the conversion still works. There is no upload step to opt out of, because there is no server to upload to.
Is there a file size or daily limit?
No. Your device does the work, so there is no bill for us to protect. The practical ceiling is your own memory: a batch of AVIF files converts fine, but very large images on an older phone can run out of room, and the tool will say so rather than fail silently.
Is QuietPix free?
