GIF to MP4, a fraction of the size
The same animation, 5 to 20 times smaller as a video. Converted on your device.
Drop GIFs here or click to browse
The converter downloads once (about 32 MB), then works offline. Your videos stay on your device.
Stop shipping 40 MB animations
GIF stores every frame as a complete image with a 256-color limit, which is why a 10-second clip balloons to tens of megabytes. Modern video compression does the same job in a fraction of the bytes at full color. Convert once here and your website loads faster, your chat sends instantly and your slides stop lagging. All locally, in your browser.
Frequently asked questions
Why convert a GIF to MP4 at all?
An MP4 of the same clip is typically 5 to 20 times smaller than the GIF and looks better. Twitter, WhatsApp and most platforms convert GIFs to video internally for exactly this reason.
Does the MP4 still loop?
The file contains one clean pass of the animation. Where you embed it, add the loop attribute (HTML video) or the platform loops it automatically.
Is the GIF uploaded for conversion?
No. FFmpeg runs in your browser through WebAssembly and re-encodes the animation on your device. Nothing is sent to any server.
What happens to transparency?
MP4 has no alpha channel, so transparent GIF regions become black. Convert on a solid background if transparency matters.
