What is the difference between instant and precise mode?
Instant mode copies the video data without re-encoding: it finishes in a couple of seconds even on long videos, but the cut snaps to the nearest keyframe (usually within a second or two of your chosen time). Precise mode re-encodes and cuts exactly on the frame, which takes roughly the length of the clip.
Is my video uploaded to trim it?
No. Cutting a 500 MB video on an upload site means uploading 500 MB first. Here FFmpeg runs in your browser: the trim starts immediately and the file never leaves your device.
Can I cut large videos — 1 GB, 2 GB or more?
Yes. There is no file size cap and no watermark: your own device does the cutting, so a 2 GB recording is just as welcome as a 20 MB clip. Instant mode handles even huge MP4 files in seconds because nothing is re-encoded.
What formats can I trim?
MP4, MOV and M4V support instant mode. WebM and MKV are trimmed in precise mode and come out as universal MP4.
Does quality drop when trimming?
