Why convert BMP to JPG?
BMP is the ancient uncompressed Windows bitmap format. It opens fine, but files are enormous — often 20-50x larger than the same image compressed. JPG opens everywhere — every OS, app, printer and website accepts it without question.
When you actually need this
BMP files turn up from old Windows software, scanners and screen-capture tools, and they are absurdly large because nothing inside them is compressed. Converting to JPG makes them shareable.
What it costs you
JPG is lossy, so this is one-way. Keep the BMP if it is an original scan you might need at full fidelity.

Is it really private? Where do my BMP files go?
Nowhere. The BMP is decoded and re-encoded as JPG by your own browser, using WebAssembly — the same technology behind Photopea and Google's Squoosh. Load this page, switch off your internet, and the conversion still works. There is no upload step to opt out of, because there is no server to upload to.
Is there a file size or daily limit?
No. Your device does the work, so there is no bill for us to protect. The practical ceiling is your own memory: a batch of BMP files converts fine, but very large images on an older phone can run out of room, and the tool will say so rather than fail silently.
