Why convert PNG to JPG?
PNG is lossless and great for screenshots and graphics, but its files are heavy — often 5–10x larger than a modern format at the same visible quality. JPG opens everywhere — every OS, app, printer and website accepts it without question.
When you actually need this
Upload forms, job applications and older systems frequently accept JPG and nothing else. A PNG photo is also needlessly large for anything that is just going to be viewed.
What it costs you
JPG has no transparency. Anything see-through in the PNG is filled with solid white, and that cannot be undone afterwards. It is also lossy, so do not use the JPG as the master copy you keep editing.
What happens to the file size
On this site's own 800×600 test image, 297 KB of PNG became 41 KB of JPG. That is an 86 percent saving, and the picture looks the same at normal viewing size.

What happens to the transparent background?
It becomes white. JPG has no way to store transparency, so every transparent pixel is composited onto a white background during conversion. If you need the transparency, convert to WebP or AVIF instead — both keep it.
Is it really private? Where do my PNG files go?
Nowhere. The PNG is decoded and re-encoded as JPG by your own browser, using WebAssembly — the same technology behind Photopea and Google's Squoosh. Load this page, switch off your internet, and the conversion still works. There is no upload step to opt out of, because there is no server to upload to.
Is there a file size or daily limit?
No. Your device does the work, so there is no bill for us to protect. The practical ceiling is your own memory: a batch of PNG files converts fine, but very large images on an older phone can run out of room, and the tool will say so rather than fail silently.
