The converter downloads once (about 32 MB), then works offline. Your videos stay on your device.
Why 8 MB?
8 MB was Discord's free upload limit for years and the number stuck: forums, chat apps and older upload forms still enforce it. This page computes the exact bitrate your clip length allows and encodes once.

Frequently asked questions
How long a video fits in 8 MB?
Roughly 60-90 seconds at watchable quality, or a few minutes if the footage is simple (screen recordings compress far better than camera shake). The tool spends the whole budget either way.
Why does my clip look soft at 8 MB?
A hard size cap divided by your clip length is the bitrate; long clips get fewer bits per second. Trim the clip first and the same 8 MB buys visibly more quality.
Is my video uploaded to compress it?
No. The re-encode runs in your browser through WebAssembly FFmpeg. The oversized original never leaves your device, which also means no waiting for a giant upload.
How does the tool hit the size?
It reads your clip's length, computes the exact bitrate that fits 8 MB with a safety margin for container overhead, and encodes once. Short clips simply come out at high quality.
